Levels of Care

Maple Star Colorado provides levels of care for children ages 0-18 years of age. The reimbursement rate for family care providers is based on the "difficulty of care" of the children placed in their homes. Each county develops an assessment tool to determine the "difficulty of care" which dictates the reimbursement rate.

Maple Star reimburses each family care provider the amount that the county establishes in the assessment tool. The difficulty of care includes levels of transportation, behavior management, and other services to be provided by the family care providers. The family care providers are reimbursed at rates that range from $300 to $1100 per month per child, depending on the difficulty of care. The rates vary from county to county.

All levels of care are determined by the needs of the child through the use of a standardized assessment. In addition, Maple Star has an emergency bed/shelter care program for children 0-18 years of age for up to 90 days.

Maple Star also has a contract with the Division of Youth Corrections to provide therapeutic foster care for adjudicated adolescent males and females with delinquent behaviors.

Levels of care range from 0 to 4. Rates of reimbursement are based on levels or difficulties of care. The average level by Maple Star Colorado is 2, with an average reimbursement rate of $800 per month per child.
