Q. How long will the licensing process take?
A. Between four to six months.
Q. What is the age range of children I can expect to care for?
A. Families work with children from 0-18.
Q. Do I need a car?
A. Yes, treatment parents are responsible for all transportation of children in care.
Q. Do I need training?
A. Maple Star provides twenty hours of pre licensing orientation for our treatment parents, and requires twenty hours of training annually.
Q. What is a respite program?
A. A respite program allows families to take time off from care giving duties. Maple Star's respite program assists families with time off, vacation compensation, and other services that assist families in the management of their households.
Q. Do I have to be married?
A. No, but each home must have two treatment parents.
Q. Can I be a treatment parent if I have a criminal record?
A. Yes, but there are several restrictions. Each case is considered on an individual basis.
